Why Working for JE Seems Too Good to Be True

Hear from our Regional Director of Sales, Tenille

Are you tired of the typical 9-to-5 grind? Are you looking for a job that provides personal and career-based flexibility? Let me let you in on one of the best kept secrets of hospitality: Jacaruso Enterprises.

I’ve worked for JE since 2018 as a Regional Director of Sales. I manage a portfolio of several hotels – and I have to tell you, my quality of life has never been better. It has been life-changing to work for an employer that has self-care as a core value. (Read all about it here.) So, why does it seem like working for JE is too good to be true? Let’s break it down.

Unlimited Vacation

Putting your personal life first is not typically spoken of by any corporate entity. But here’s the thing: Toni, the founder and CEO of JE, is passionate about this. When the head honcho is passionate about work-life balance, it trickles down to the rest of the team. We’re encouraged to practice work / life balance and to make time for doing what we love with people we love.

JE believes employees are most productive when they take time off work to refresh and refocus. That’s why we have a take-what-you-need vacation policy that encourages me to take time off for vacations or just a break from work to recharge. I’m also provided with the flexibility to build a schedule that works for me as long as I maintain strong sales relationships and produce results for my hotel portfolio. It almost sounds too good to be true, right? Trust me, it’s not.

Work from Home Life

I always wanted the ability to work from home. Pre-COVID, I didn’t think it would be financially feasible since so many work from home positions were commission based. When I saw a former co-worker from elsewhere start with JE, I immediately experienced FOMO. Her quality of life was amazing, and how JE was changing the industry with remote sales service was unlike anything I had ever seen before. I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

JE Life

We coined a term at JE called #JELife. It means something a little different to everyone. To me, it’s how I balance my obligations to my hotel portfolio as a Regional Director of Sales with my personal obligations of being a good wife, mother, and responsible pet owner. Basically, having time to do all the things that bring me the most joy. So, what does a typical #JELife day look like for me?

One thing for sure is that no two days look the same. I start my days early to take care of personal obligations, like family, before I switch to work mode. This used to entail taking my daughter to school while taking work calls from the car line and working on a hotspot in my laptop on the go.

My #JELife also consists of using a single calendar for both personal and business appointments. How is this possible? Around the time I block for prospecting for new business, responding to leads, holding conference calls, trainings and closing deals, I schedule time to go to the doctor or watch my kid’s games. I can enjoy lunch outside of my home office or take care of some errands when there’s less traffic and the grocery store is empty. If I leave the office during traditional work hours, I can use my time in the evenings to catch up or work ahead to keep flexibility in my schedule. I control my time from day to day while keeping my hotels happy. That’s my #JELife.

Better Connections

JE has been a remote company since 2007. Our entire workforce is spread across 33 states and 5 time zones. I often get asked how I stay connected or motivated working from home. Oddly enough, I spend more time connecting with colleagues on Teams, FaceTime, text, and email more than I ever did when I was on site. I am constantly communicating in my role with my hotels, clients, and colleagues. My communication skills have improved because I have to be more creative communicating remotely. The reputation JE has in the hospitality industry has also allowed me to make better industry connections, form better partnerships, and stay more current with key events that happen in the industry. JE prides itself on hiring professionals that are unequivocally the best in the industry. With the networking and connections I’ve made as an employee, I know it’s true.

So, there you have it. Working for JE may sound too good to be true, but I’m proof that it’s not. With unlimited vacation, endless flexibility, and connections others long for, JE is the best career choice I’ve ever made.
