Ways to Keep Your Competitive Edge Razor Sharp

Toni Jacaruso:

Hey y’all. It’s been a great week. We’re getting ready to speak at some of our Best Customers Brand Conferences. One of the topics we’re going to be talking about is how to maintain your competitive edge and really, how do you keep that competitive edge razor sharp? And, we realize there are really three things that any hotel can do to stand out from your competition.

Toni Jacaruso:

One, know your hotel. How many configurations do you have with your current meeting space? Can you use the lobby, if for some reason that meeting room isn’t available? How many rooms do you have that have kings or two doubles? How well do you really know everything about your hotel? We take for granted that we know the property, but it’s nice to have another sit down and really look at all the facts within the building.

Toni Jacaruso:

The second thing is, know your competitors. And, I don’t mean just drive by or sit in the lobby once a quarter. I mean, how many times have you spent the night at their hotel? Highly recommend at least once every two to three months, that you spend the night at your hotels that you compete with the most. You’d be amazed at what you find.

Toni Jacaruso:

And the last one, innovate. If you really want to outshine your competition, do something that you’ve always done that they’re doing but do it differently. Do it better. Think about ways that you can innovate your sales strategies or maybe really spruce up the check-in process, or even just something as easy as tweaking something spectacular at your breakfast. Do something different. People remember different.

Toni Jacaruso:

Have a great week. Kill the competition. Take care. We’ll see you again.
