The Number One Mistake Salespeople Make

Transcription

Toni Jacaruso:

Hi, my name is Toni Jacaruso. I teach a lot of sales training classes and I’ve been on thousands of sales calls. Last week in one of my classes, one of the participants asked me, “What do you think is the number one mistake salespeople make?” I had to really think about that one. What I finally settled on is I think many salespeople are more concerned about getting the sale than helping the customer. Now we’ve all been there. You find a piece of business you really want. And so, you start trying to talk the customer into buying from you. You start being pushy. Well, that’s exactly what gives salespeople a bad reputation. So if you find yourself pushing, stop.

Toni Jacaruso:

I believe at my core, it’s not about what you can get from the customer, but what you can give. So, if you focus on what you can bring to the situation, rather than what you can get from it, your sales will increase. Don’t take my word for it, try it! Just this week, let go of the outcome of every selling situation and simply focus on being helpful. Let me know how it goes. You’ve got this.
